Neuro-Linguistic Programming was initially created in the 1970’s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder. NLP is based on the belief that an individual's perception of the world comes from an interaction between their mind, body, and language. These perceptions, and therefore behaviors, can be changed by the application of a variety of techniques.
The term Neuro-Linguistic Programming is broken down into 3 parts:
Neuro: The nervous system (mind/body) through which our experience is processed via 5 senses: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory, and gustatory.
Linguistic: Language and other nonverbal communication systems through which our neural representations are coded, ordered and given meaning. This includes: pictures, sounds, feelings, tastes, smells, and words (self-talk).
Programming: How to use the language of our mind (our programming) to consistently achieve our specific and desired outcomes quickly and effectively.
NLP techniques help us understand the unconscious processes that form our behaviors. With this knowledge, we can create new ways of thinking and feeling, allowing us to behave in a more positive and desired manner. It allows us to change, adopt, or eliminate behaviors, as we desire, and gives us the ability to choose our mental, emotional, and physical states of well-being.
What is TimeLine Therapy?
TimeLine Therapy is an offshoot of NLP developed by Tad James in 1985. It is a collection of techniques that can help you gain emotional control over your life. The process allows you to work at the unconscious level to release the effects of past negative beliefs, decisions, and emotions.
TimeLine Therapy can help you:
Release negative emotions from the past, such as anger, fear, sadness, and guilt
Let go of limiting decisions from the past, such as "I'm not good enough", or "I don't deserve that"
Create a compelling future that will bring about desired outcomes
