Emotional Freedom Technique
What is EFT?

The Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT, was developed in the mid-1990s by Gary Craig.
EFT has grown into a revolutionary healing aid, used by traditional therapists, medical
professionals and alternative healers.  It has been used effectively, and sometimes almost
instantaneously, on hundreds of emotional, physical, and performance issues, and often works
where nothing else will.  Examples of cases in which EFT has been used effectively include:
anxiety, stress, pain management, addictions, headaches, fears and phobias, panic attacks,
emotional traumas, and sports performance.

EFT is a form of energy therapy - basically a do-it-yourself acupuncture technique without the
needles. Using two fingers (index and middle), EFT allows a person to discharge negative
energy by physically tapping the body's pressure points on the hands, wrists and face.

How does EFT work?

Have you ever heard someone say "I think angry" or "I think stress"?  Of course not!  That's
because we feel anger, stress, and all other negative emotions as tension in our bodies.  This
tension can create very real physical changes, and block the body's natural flow of healing
energy.  Quite often, people are aware of the events or memories that trigger emotional
discomfort in their lives, but they have not yet connected those memories to the symptoms of
disease in their bodies.  Using EFT, it is possible to revisit the event(s) in question, and unblock
the "stuck" energy in our bodies.  Properly done, both emotional anguish and the physical
symptoms often subside.

A simple way to explain how the EFT strategies work is to use the analogy of a circuit breaker in
your kitchen.   Once the circuit is over-powered you cannot turn the lights on or get the refrigerator
to cool until the circuit breaker has been reset.  EFT resets the circuits in a person’s body and
mind.  It is designed to address the physiology of the body, and it releases mental, emotional,
mechanical and physical blocks - and it works quickly.

How many sessions will it take?

EFT can often resolve issues in 1 or 2 sessions that would take months or even years of talk
therapy.

       EFT and Mesothelioma

Many cancer patients, including
those with
pleural mesothelioma,
utilize EFT for pain relief from
traditional cancer treatments.
While EFT is in no way a
mesothelioma cure, it can be
beneficial in coping with the
emotional stress and fear
associated with this diagnosis.
